Personal Finance App — Terms of Use

These terms cover a private personal finance application. See also the Privacy Policy.

Effective date: 2026-09-04. Last updated: 2026-09-04.

A private tool, not a service

This is a command-line tool that I run on my own Mac to track my family’s net worth and cash flow. It is not published, not sold, and not offered as a service to anyone.

There is no account to create, nothing to subscribe to, and no product being marketed. The only people who use it are me and consenting members of my family. If you are reading this page, it is almost certainly because you are reviewing the application rather than using it.

Read-only account information

The application reads account information only: balances and transaction history.

It never initiates payments, never moves money, and never modifies anything at the bank. There is no payment initiation functionality and none is planned.

Who does what

I am not a bank, a financial institution, a payment service provider or a licensed intermediary of any kind. I am an individual running software on a personal computer.

The regulated part — connecting to the bank and retrieving account data under PSD2 — is performed by Enable Banking Oy, a Finnish licensed account information service provider (AISP). Their own terms and their supervision by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority govern that part of the flow. The bank that holds the account is BoursoBank in France, and the account holder’s agreement with the bank continues to apply.

Access is authorised by the account holder through the bank’s own strong customer authentication, and it can be revoked at any time, either in the bank’s interface or by deleting the session through Enable Banking.

The figures are informational only

Anything the application displays — balances, totals, net worth, categorised spending — is informational.

It is not financial, tax, investment or legal advice. It is not an authoritative account statement. Figures may be stale, incomplete, mis-categorised, or simply wrong because of a bug, a failed refresh, or a change in what the bank returns.

The bank’s own records govern. If what the application shows and what the bank shows disagree, the bank is right and the application is wrong. Do not rely on these figures for anything that matters — a tax filing, a transaction, a decision about money — without checking them against the bank directly.

No warranty

The application is provided “as is” and “as available”, with no warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability or non-infringement.

Nothing here is maintained to a professional standard. It is a household tool written for one household’s needs.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, I accept no liability for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or otherwise — arising from the use of the application or from reliance on anything it displays, including any loss of data, financial loss, or loss arising from an interruption of access.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow it to be excluded or limited.

Changes and discontinuation

I may change, break, rewrite, suspend or discontinue the application at any time, for any reason, without notice and without any obligation to keep it running. There is no service level, because there is no service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not affect the mandatory consumer or data protection rights that anyone whose data is involved may have under the law of their own country of residence, including under the GDPR.

Personal data

How personal data is handled — what is collected, on what legal basis, where it is stored, and what rights apply — is set out in the Privacy Policy. The single most important point there is that data from French bank accounts is stored on a personal computer located in Canada.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date at the top will change. Because there are no users to notify, there is no notification mechanism beyond this page.
